A wee bit of history

BAAU was founded by l0cke, part of studio XD. h modestly ran our club and was a very good and charismatic leader. This was well over 7 years ago, and I'm not very sure when the first BAAU meet actually took place anymore. BAAU in it's early days was a very active member-oriented club. Online communities were new, as was meeting people over the internet. Eventually many of our old members moved on, but as they left one by one, we have always seen new people come and old people go.

With the coming of our yearly anthology, BAAU Down, the way in which our club functions has slowly altered, and though we still value attendance at every meet, it has no longer become the priority of our club to function this way. Instead we strive to work towards common goals and share our experience. The meet size may have dwindled over the years, but our book gets bigger and bigger.

So how do I join up?

Joining BAAU is pretty easy. We are a pretty easy-going bunch of people. Skill level doesn't matter; just a passion, a passing interest, or even a mere curiosity for art is enough for us. It's as simple as attending a meet, which are often discussed and decided in our forum. We are too lazy to update the main page with meet information every time one rolls about, so it's up to you, the wannabe member, to read posts and found out when and where the next one will be.

What do we do at BAAU meets?

We hang out, draw, chat, play video games, whatever there is to do depending on the surroundings. Sometimes we work on comics, have tutorials, or just eat a bunch of fast food in a crowded noisy mall. What we care about is that you understand that everyone is part of a whole, everyone in BAAU regardless of status, or skill level, or age, or gender, or whatever you are, is just the same as anyone else. We hope that you are sincere in your interest in participating and do not expect to be treated different or above anyone else. Can I join the forums even though I'm not a member?

We realize that there are a lot of eyes watching us and what we do. We don't mind at all, as long as you are polite. BAAU is a good place to learn and share lots of new ideas, so feel free to participate. However, only people who are actual members can enter our anthology.
